IP rights are designed both to help established firms grow and encourage new businesses and creators to compete.

 

The four basic rights -- copyrights, patents, trademarks and trade secrets -- make sharing easier and enable others to benefit.

Essential Information

 

The knowledge economy can be a confusing place. IPBasics.org, an initiative under the Center for Intellectual Property Understanding (CIP), is designed to make it easy to get the essential information about IP people need know today. 

IPBasics.org can be used effectively by everyone from creators, entrepreneurs, educators and students to IP professionals and investors. No prior background is necessary.
